A while ago I was teaching English to a girl here in Spain, she was about 19, but had a strength, wisdom and incredible maturity well beyond her years.
We used to have some pretty thought-provoking conversations and she always impressed me and got me thinking.
One day while chatting she said something that really hit me and made me think.
She said that most people are continually looking outside of themselves for their happiness…striving to get stuff, achieve stuff, be something in the eyes of the world, as a way to feel loved, get approval, feel worthy…..chasing butterflies in other words
But she believed that when you go inside, look inside, spend time working on what’s inside you and you cultivate a beautiful garden within…the butterflies will come to you.
And this painting is my interpretation of that beautiful idea.
