Healing Hands

€400.00

I painted this while in the midst of one of the darkest and toughest seasons of my adult life.

For around 18 months before I had been experiencing what I could only describe as a deep emotional pain which generally felt like an awful pressure on my chest.

During this time, I often placed both of my hands on my chest as a way of soothing my pain and to reassure myself that I would never abandon myself.

I would often couple this practice by listening to the beautiful song ‘By Your Side’ by Sade. I hoped that with this alone I could eventually feel my way through the pain and make it to a place of peace on the other side.

Then one day I painted this piece in a single afternoon to try to express all of the pain and sadness I had been feeling.

Not long after, I began a course of therapy which would lead me to the root cause of all of this suffering.

This painting will always be a reminder of the strength and resilience I had shown to make it to that point when my restorative therapy began.
